If you’re a foodie and wine lover you should be beside yourself!

The Good Food & Wine Show Cape Town 2011It’s The Good Food & Wine Show in Cape Town from Thursday to Sunday this week (26-29 May 2011) and you can treat your taste buds to a FOUR day feast for just R85.

Escape the onset of winter and lose yourself in the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) amidst a celebration of tantalising tastes. Looking at the events planned for this food and wine show, has me wondering if 4 days is long enough?!

The Good Food & Wine Show is South Africa’s premiere food, wine and lifestyle show, and the only one of its kind to consistently bring a star-studded line-up of the world’s most inspiring chefs to South Africa.

  • There will be live demonstrations and hands-on cooking workshops with some of the world’s most celebrated chefs.
  • You can experience the latest gourmet trends and sample culinary delights from premium restaurants.
  • There are even specially designed performances for children that make learning to eat well, fun!
  • And to top it all off, you can taste glorious wines from all over the winelands in one spot!!

Some of the demonstrations and master classes do cost extra to attend, but you will be able to rub shoulders with culinary kings and queens like James Martin, Celia Brooks Brown, Jonathan Daddia, Atul Kochhar and celebrities like Jeremy & Jacqui Mansfield, Pieter-Dirk Uys, and others.

Below is a brief summary of what’s happening in the different ‘theatres’ – take a look – it’s amazing: You can blend your own wine; learn to be more ‘green’ in the way you buy or prepare food; indulge yourself in 40 minutes of Lindt chocolate decadence and even see Evita! (LOVE her cookbook.)

Samsung Chefs in Action Theatre

30-minute live cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs. Audiences are guaranteed to be taking notes, roaring with laughter and inspired to get into the kitchen.

Get Fresh with BBC Lifestyle Hands-on Workshops

Cooking alongside James Martin or Evita Bezuidenhout. Prepare the favourite recipe of one of six celebrity chefs under their careful and unforgettable instruction. Anyone can watch for free, but to be part of a small group of 12 participants tickets are priced from R350 per person. (Includes ingredients from Woolies, a fully equipped work station and your keepsake apron.)

Wine Theatre

Tour the wine lands without leaving the show. Learn expert tips on how to choose the perfect wine. Taste premium domestic and imported wines and buy at great show prices. Blend your own wine.

Lindt Chocolate Theatre

Chocoholics should head for the Lindt Chocolate Theatre with its line-up of amazing workshops by Dimon Simatos, one of South Africa’s finest pastry chefs. Tickets are at the very special price of only R75.00. Get the heads up on secrets normally reserved for chocolatiers and a goodie bag to melt your heart.

‘Farm to Fork’ Wellbeing Theatre

Find out more about Green trends from around the world, including the importance of sustainable farming practices and knowing where our food originates from. Challenge your cooking methods, get inspiring ideas and see top wine lands chefs prove that good eating doesn’t have to tip the scales. Learn from renowned experts how diet can relieve the symptoms of common ailments and help us create balance in our lives one meal at a time.

The Amarula Outdoor Experience

A South African food show wouldn’t be complete without a braai and this theatre is designed around the Outdoor dining experience where you’ll see that a braai doesn’t just need to be a braai.

A MUST SEE at this event is a Genevieve MCC favourite – personal chef extraordinaire – Neill Anthony!

CBeebies Good Food for Kids

A fun, hands-on show for kids of all ages from the under six’s to teens. Inspire even the trickiest taste buds onto the path of healthy eating. It is a jam packed, fun-filled zone with art classes and workshops that entertain and educate.
City Bites

This is the place where you can rest your heels and savour a meal from one of the top regional restaurants.
